Capcom CPS (1) Empty Re: Capcom CPS (1)

CPS1 Long
CPS1 Short
CPS1'(dash) Short faster mhz clock
CPS1.5 faster mhz clock+Qsound

Mixing up the A boards will result in a slower/incorrect moving SF2HF.

Street Fighter 2 World Warrios runs on the 'old' 10MHz board
Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition and Hyper fighting run on the 12MHz board.

The long board extends out about 15cm (6 inches) in front of the B board (which has the EPROMs on it, middle board in the stack)
The short and Dash variants are almost completely covered by the B board (maybe an inch or 2/2-5cm sticking out with the JAMMA edge on the end)
The Q sound boards are in a grey case that looks similar to the black CPS2 all in one boards.

CPU SPEED doesn't really matter when game programs are bound to video vertical sync interrupt. That's how the CPS1, CPS2 and Neo Geo work. What happens when the CPU "runs out of juice" on a frame is that it either drops frames (too much work load for the allotted time for a video update) or it skips processing. That's what happens for example with Metal Slug2 on the Neo Geo. If a game doesn't use too much processor time to get to the point it slows down, moving it to a faster board will have no noticeable effect at all. But the opposite is true ( solving MS2 slowdown by OC'ing the NG).

CPS1 "Long" Board (10MHz)
Good for playing 10MHz games, but not good for 12MHz games, also the largest PCB variant
note that the audio chip is visible on the bottom left and has a large heat sync, the volume knob is above the audio amp.

CPS1 "Short" Board (10MHz)
Good for playing 10MHz games, but not good for 12MHz games, also the smallest PCB variant
note that the PCB is so short that you can't even see the audio chip under the B-Board, also the volume knob is moved to the left edge of the board so that it is still accessible

CPS1 "Dash" Board (12MHz)
Good for both 10MHz and 12MHz games, this is the ideal candidate for a CPS1 multi
note that size wise this is shorter than the long board, but longer than the short board, these boards have a "CPS-Dash" sticker next to the dip switches, the volume pot is on the left (in the same spot as the short board) and the audio chip is rotated 90deg compared to how it's oriented on the long board.

CPS1.5 "Q-Sound" Board (12MHz + Q-Sound)
only good for CPS1.5 games
All of these games come in a black plastic case with a filterboard (in this picture you can see the lower half of the case and the filterboard), also note that the audio chips is on the top left rather than the bottom left.

Here are the different games and which board they're compatible with:
